[REVIEW] e.l.f. Concealer (Beige)

I'm back for another review on yet another e.l.f. product. I gotta admit that some of these products have been pretty impressive lately, so I definitely had high hopes for this one. Let's get into the review shall we :]

Breakdown:

Packaging: I'm definitely on the fence with this packaging, I like how sleek it looks and how it's in a stick formation. The one thing that I don't like is how cheap the cap feels when I take it off the product. It feels like cheap metal that was cut poorly, but the bottom half (where the product is) feels sturdy and has a good weight to it.

Coverage: With the texture of this product I was expecting it to have really good coverage to it, but it has very minimal coverage. It has a texture like a full coverage concealer, and it even applies like a full coverage concealer, but when you blend it out it provides minimal coverage. The color is a lot lighter in the packaging than what they show on the box which threw me off, but it works as a pretty good highlighter.

Longevity: I'm actually surprised with how long this product lasts. It does a decent job of surviving the heat, and it doesn't settle into my fine lines under my eyes. On a normal day it'll last for about 4-6 hours without a problem. After that, I start to see my dark circles becoming more visible (just remember that it doesn't provide a lot of coverage in the first place.

Color: I don't like how light this color is, especially for the name. I was expecting it to be at least 3 shades darker, and the actual box shows it being a darker color. If you're going to buy this product, definitely look at the color that's on the product itself. That ring of color on the cap is more true to the actual color than what it shows on the box.

Price: e.l.f. is extremely affordable, and I think we can all agree that majority of the products are hit or miss, but if you're looking for something to use as a highlight without using too much shimmer this is a good option.

Overall:
I'm definitely on the fence with whether or not I like this product. It's a good highlighter, but I definitely wouldn't consider it a concealer. I have trouble spots on my chin and even if I concentrate the product, it doesn't conceal it. I also like how long it lasts and I don't have to worry about it slipping off of my face in the hot heat. If you want to try it, it wouldn't be too big of an investment and you could just ask for your money back, but like I said, I've been using this for about 2-3 weeks and I still can't make up my mind. There's a good chance that I'll use it up, but I probably won't repurchase it again.

Have you tired this product? What's your favorite thing from e.l.f.? Let me know down below, and until my next post...

[REVIEW] Suave - Dry Shampoo

Happy Thursday Beauties! You're almost there to the weekend, so hang in there! For today's review, it's on an affordable dry shampoo. It's not often that I use dry shampoo, but let's be real, we're all busy and there are nights where washing our hair is just out of the question. As long as you have a good dry shampoo it can be our little secret ;D lol Let's get on to the review!

Breakdown

Packaging: Like most dry shampoos, this comes in a metal canister with a spray nozzle. As an aerosol dry shampoo, there's not much more you can do with it packaging wise, so I have no complaints with it. The nozzle does a good job of dispersing the product without having too much buildup in the center.

Smell: Unlike some of the dry shampoos I've tried in the past, this scent is somewhat tolerable. It's a lemon-ey citrus scent. Personally i don't care for the scent; I've never been a citrus-scent type of girl. I'd prefer to have that salon smell lol. The smell does fade throughout the day, but it's somewhat intense when you first spray it on.

Product: When I first used it, I absolutely hated it because it made my hair feel piecey and gritty, not pleasant at all! After trying it out multiple times, I realized that I need to hold the bottle as far away from my head as possible and lightly spray near the roots. I do this in sections and I just let it sit like that for a while (I usually do my makeup in the mean time) and then I go in with freshly washed hands (just to make sure I don't add any more oil) to massage the product in. You'll want to do the same thing as if you were washing your hair. Then I go ahead and style it however I want to.

I don't notice a white/gray cast on my hair which is nice, but at the end of the day my hair does feel dirtier and heavier. You don't want to concentrate this product in one area because it'll be difficult to blend in and your hair will feel gritty.

Overall:
It's one of the misses for Suave in their hair care line. I love their heat protectant spray and shampoo, but this is just something I wouldn't repurchase. The way it makes my hair feel after a couple of hours is unpleasant and I'll only use it on my second day hair as long as I put it up.

If you're looking for a dry shampoo that doesn't have the harsh smell of a salon or chemically, then you may be interested at giving this a shot. Just be sure that you don't over-do it because it will leave your hair feeling heavy and dirtier than it was before.

[REVIEW] e.l.f. - Tinted Moisturizer (Beige)

Hi Beauties! I'm back with another review on another e.l.f. product! If you're wondering why I have a bunch of e.l.f. products, it's because I originally picked them up for my sister so she could use it for her dance, but they ended up being way too light for her (but perfect for me ;D lol).

Anyhow let's get in to the actual review!

Breakdown:

Packaging: It comes in a squeeze tube and you can see the color of the product inside of the tube. I'm on the fence with whether or not I like this packaging. When I first opened it, it kind of spilled all over the place, but that could be because in the store they hang the product up. When I use it now it's okay, because it's not that liquidy.

Product: I live in the desert and it can get up to 115 degrees during the summer, but the past couple of days/weeks it's been in the high 80s and low 90s and this product is perfect for me during this time of the year. I was worried that it might make me too greasy because I apply it on top of my moisturizer and I set it with my e.l.f. pressed powder. I do notice that my nose gets pretty shiny, but other than that my oil stays pretty controlled. This product isn't really thick and it isn't watery either. It's a good mix in the sense that I can put it on the back of my hand and I don't have to worry about it running all over the place or leaking out of the tube, and at the same time it isn't too thick like one of the whipped foundations.

Finish: It has a slight dewy finish to it, and even when I set it with a pressed powder it's still lightly dewy, but it's nothing too heavy. It's extremely breathe-able and it soaks right into my skin.

Color Range: There are 7 colors for this specific line and even though it's 7 colors, it's a better range than you'll find for most foundations. There's two darker shades for the darker beauties out there and  two really light shades for the light light beauties out there. There is a slight orange/yellow undertone to it which compliments my natural yellow undertone nicely. If you're worried about this particular color having too much of an orange undertone, don't worry because it won't be extremely noticeable once blended (especially if you picked the correct shade).

Longevity: For a tinted moisturizer it lasts for a decent amount of time. At the end of the day there's still some left (I can tell when I look on my makeup removing cloth). Even during a 12 hour day I can see some product on my makeup wipe. It still has the same finish and my oil isn't out of control.

Overall:
I really enjoy this product. It's great for Spring/Summer because my skin can still breathe and it doesn't feel too heavy or uncomfortable and I don't have to worry about my foundation sweating off. It's extremely light weight and evens out my skin tone without piling on to many products. All I need to do is add light concealer (my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind-Dark Circle Eraser) and set it and I'm good to go! Be aware that it does smell like a sunscreen, but it isn't overwhelming and eventually fades away.

If you're looking for a light product that evens out your skin, then you'd enjoy this product. I have combo skin and I don't have a problem with break outs or becoming too oily at the end of the day, but you may want to be aware of that. Don't look for it to cover a lot of your discolorations (like redness around your nose or dark circles), but it just slightly evens it out and leaves your skin looking natural and breathe-able.

[REVIEW] e.l.f. - Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick - Pink Umbrellas

Hi Beauties! It's been a while since I posted a new review, but I have an affordable product for you that would be great for those who are looking for a hint of color on the lips, but not sticky like a lipgloss or something that stains the lips.

Let's get into the review shall we? :]

Breakdown:

Packaging: Like most of the lip products these days that aren't lip glosses or lipsticks, it's in a jumbo pencil form which is great for just throwing in your bag and it doesn't take up much room. Surprisingly the cap seals extremely well, but the actual container feels extremely light and cheap.

Price: This comes from the regular e.l.f. line, so it's extremely inexpensive, I purchased mine at Target for $2.03 (I can't believe they upped the price by 2 cents! just kidding lol it's really no big deal). If you know some girls that are pretty young, but wants to start wearing makeup, this will be a great alternative for them since it's inexpensive and there is some color payoff.

Longevity: If you don't eat or drink anything the product stays on for quite a while, but the "glossy" look doesn't last for long. The feeling of it on your lips though, will last until you eat or drink something.

Product: The product itself is quite nice. Once it settles in, it feels like an ordinary lip balm. It doesn't feel extremely heavy on the lips like lipsticks or lip glosses can feel. It does have like a pepperminty smell to it and you can lightly taste it whenever you open your mouth, but it does go away after a little while. It can be quite refreshing, especially if you're out and about and your lips are feeling a little chap. One thing that you should be aware of is that it can accentuate your dry lips, but after it's settled in, you can't really tell. It may be more noticeable with some of the darker colors.

Color: There's a total of 8 colors in the line and my local Target carries three colors: Pink Umbrellas, Sangria Starters, and I'm not sure what the last color is because they were sold out. I say it's a pretty decent color range especially since it's not really all about the pigmentation. The colors they have a available are the basics that I think everybody could invest in. With this particular color, it's not extremely opaque (which I like). When I think of a lip gloss I think of something that adds just a touch of color, but has a lot of shine to it. For me, it has just the right amount of color, it's adds just a hint of color but nothing too overbearing or opaque like a regular lip pencil.

Overall:
I like this line. I don't absolutely love it, but I definitely don't hate it. I would like to try out the other colors first before I give my final rating of the line, but this first color is definitely a good start. It's great for everyday and it moisturizers my lips. Although it says it's a lip gloss stick, it's only glossy for about 15-20 minutes and then it settles in and looses it's glossy-ness. It's not sticky at all and my hair doesn't stick to my lips.

It's inexpensive and I like the formulation of it. The smell reminds me of the peppermint lipgloss tubes from Bath & Body Works, so if you like that scent then you'll like the scent with this pencil. I have a 13 years old sister (she's going on 14), and I think this product is a great alternative for those who want to start in makeup, but don't want to make a giant leap into it and start wearing opaque lip colors. Honestly, don't look at these to be extremely opaque because that isn't the main purpose. It's supposed to give you just a tint of color which it does. Overall I'm extremely impressed with this product and I can't wait to try the other colors!

Have you tried this line from e.l.f.? What do you think about them and what colors have you tried? Let me know in the comments down below or tweet me @ciaociaoreview :]

Until my next post!

[FIRST IMPRESSION] Wet n Wild - Color Icon Blusher - Pearlescent Pink

Hey Beauties! Today I have a first impression/review for you guys on an extremely affordable blush. It's Wet n Wild's Color Icon Blusher in Pearlescent Pink. You can find these at your local drug store. There are 3 original blushes from this specific line, and I decided to pick up the most popular color.

Let's get into the first impression:

Breakdown:

Packaging: The packaging is okay. I feel like the brush it comes with isn't necessary, but if you don't have any brushes then it's an okay option. However, I don't know a lot of people that use the brushes that come with these products, and if they were to take it out, then the packaging would be a lot more compact and a lot easier to carry around. But, it's not bulky and it's a lot sleeker than other blushes out there.

Price: Wet n Wild has extremely affordable products, this baby right here goes for about $2.99, but my local Walgreens was having a sale on some Wet n Wild products so I was able to buy it for $1.94. If you're looking for an affordable blush from the drug store this is perfect for you!

Color/Pigmentation: This product is pretty pigmented. Even with the lightest amount on my brush, I still ended up overdoing it and I needed to blend it out with my powder brush so it wasn't too harsh. I absolutely love the color on my skin tone as well. It's a golden light mauve which is great for Summer and with the golden sheen it just add that little umph to a simple look. The base color itself does go on a little lighter from what you see in the pan, but since it's so pigmented you can build it up if you'd like to.

Longevity: I need to warn you, I'm a face toucher, especially when I'm in class, so naturally face products don't really last that long for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that after a day of wear, I could still see the color on my cheeks. I'm lucky if a product lasts 2-3 hours on me, and I've been wearing this for about 6 hours right now. Overall, it looks like the base color has great longevity, but not the golden sheen.

Product: When I dipped my blush brush in there, I just lightly patted it in, and then a bunch of fallout came off too. The blush is extremely powdery in the pan, which I was kind of expecting because I have the same problem when it comes to their single eyeshadows from the same line. I'm extremely hesitant to use this daily if it means that I'm going to constantly have to deal with the fallout, which is the main reason why I don't use their single eyeshadows although I love the colors.

Overall:
I really do like this blush. I think it's a great alternative for someone who is wanting the pigmentation from a higher end product, but doesn't want to pay the high end price. I also think that the color itself is extremely flattering on all types of skin tones; maybe more so for those with warmer undertones because of that golden sheen. It can work as a multi-tasker (highlight/blush) but remember that the shimmer doesn't last that long.

Have you tried these blushes?? Which ones are your favorite?? Let me know down below and if there's a product out there that you'd want me to try out/review let me know!! You can also find me on twitter (ciaociao808review) or instagram (ciaociao808)!! Till my next post :]

[MAKEUP] Wish List Wednesday (Drug Store Edition)

It's Hump Day! Which also means that I show you Beauties the products that I've been wanting. I usually do this with high-end products, but today I decided to do it with drug store products instead. I usually pass these items whenever I'm in the drug store and I always eye them out, but I never want to buy them. Let's get started! :]

NYX:
I'm a sucker for NYX products because they're so affordable and they have pretty good quality products which is a plus.
Matte Body Bronzer: $8.99

Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation: $7.49

Illuminator (Narcissistic): $8.99

Maybelline:
Another one of my favorite lines at the drug store. I love their mascaras, but I've also been loving their newer products.

Color Sensational - Color Whisper (Rose of Attraction): $7.49

Color Sensational - The Buffs (Stormy Sahara): $7.49

Lash Discovery Mini Brush Waterproof Mascara: $7.49

Dream Bouncy Blush (Candy Coral): $7.99

Super Stay 14 Hour Lipstick (Eternal Rose): $8.99

Revlon:
I haven't been too blown away with some of the things that Revlon has come out with lately. I do really like their lip products though, but there are a couple of other items that I'm interested in trying out.

PhotoReady Cream Color (Coral Reef): $12.99

PhotoReady Foundation: $12.99

ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow (Harmonious): $7.99

Highlighting Palette (Bronze Glow): $10.99

L'Orèal:
I absolutely LOVE a bunch of the things that they're coming out with and I want to try EVERYTHING! But that's impossible lol, here are some of the products that I've been wanting to try for a while.

Voluminous Butterfly Mascara: $8.99

Color Riche Extraordinary Lip Color (Rose Melody): $9.99

Colour Riche Lip Balm (Rose Elixir): $7.99

Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Oil-Free: $24.99

Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara: $9.99

What have you been eyeing at the drug store lately?! I recently saw a new release of mascara called 'Manga Eyes,' I can't remember which brand came out with it, but I'm interested to try it! I just wish it came in a waterproof formula. Let me know if you tried out any of these products down below! :]

[REVIEW] Freeman - Facial Anti-Stress Mask

Hope you had a great start to the week Beauties! If not, I have the perfect product for you! It's an affordable face mask that you can find at places such as Walmart or Ulta.

Let's get into the review shall we? :]

Breakdown:
Packaging: I'm not too crazy about the packaging. As you can see on the cap it's really easy for the product to get everywhere. At the same time, I'm not sure if there is a different way to package it. It could be placed in a tub, but I would feel it's unsanitary to be sticking my fingers in there (especially if it's going to be sitting on my face).

Scent: Personally, I really like the scent. It's calming and refreshing, but I know that some may not enjoy the scent since it is pretty heavy. To me, it smells like a mix of the sea/ocean, a spa, and paradise. I honestly have no other way to describe the scent! It's just so refreshing and it reminds me of home (Hawaii).

Product: It comes out like a sea-foam green color and when it dries, it gets a little darker. You can add more if you'd like, but I would say you don't want to make it too thick because it'll take a while to dry and it could end up feeling uncomfortable instead of relaxing. It claims to clear pores and sooth skin, but I don't really notice it doing that. I mainly use it to relax and really get in the skin to hopefully clear it up and just have a nice clean canvas to work with. I don't feel any tingly feelings while this product is drying and I don't notice any breakout from using it. I wouldn't my skin as sensitive and when I try out new products, I usually don't have any breakouts or irritation. I do have oily-combination skin, and it doesn't make me any oiler the next day and it doesn't make my dry patches worse.

Price: In my opinion this is an amazing deal. I purchased this bottle for about $3.50 from Walmart and you get 6 fl oz. I've used this about 8 times and I think it's really worth the money. I've tried using regular paper/material masks and I just don't care for them, and I feel like I get more value out of this than I do than the paper masks. Individually, those paper masks go for about $0.99-$1.25 depending on where you get them; with the Freeman masks I already feel like I got my moneys worth and more!

Overall:
I really love this product and if you're looking for a great "spa day" at home type of product this is it! I know it may seem unsanitary, but you can always open up the cap and smell it to make sure that the scent won't bother you. It doesn't bother me because it's light/refreshing and the scent kind of grows on you after a while lol.

What are your favorite types of masks? Do you like clay masks or the regular paper/material masks? Let me know down below! :]

[REVIEW] L'Oreal - True Match LUMI Foundation - W4 (Natural Beige)

Happy Sunday Beauties! I wish I could've put up more posts this past weekend, but I decided to focus on some personal things instead. I did have a formal on Friday that I went to, and I do have a get ready with me that I'm hoping to edit soon (but I may need to get the new iMovie to edit it).

Anyhow today I have a review for you guys! This review is on L'Oreal's True Match LUMI foundation. I have mixed feelings about this foundation, so let's get into the actual review, shall we?! :]

Breakdown:

Packaging: Hands down, this is my favorite foundation packaging from the drug store. I love the fact that it has a pump, and I wish that all foundations had a pump because it'll make everybody's life so much easier! Can we all agree?!?! lol, anyhow, the pump surprisingly does regulate the amount of product that comes out. I can do a full pump and half a pump and a quarter of a pump, which is awesome for me since I have almost no control trying to poor out foundation from those tubes.

Color Range: The one thing that I've always liked about L'Oreal was the fact that they have a range of colors that work with your undertones (warm, neutral cool), but I feel like there aren't enough light and dark colors in all the undertones. They have a great variety as far as the medium shades go, but if you're extremely light or darker, than you may have a difficult time finding a color match. I did notice that some of the warm shades did have a slight orange tint to it depending on how dark you went in the range. I was originally going to get W5, but I could tell that there was quite a bit of orange tint to it, so I went with W4.

Price: The price is a little much for me, but personally I would want my foundations to be around $6-8. This was about $10-11, which is a little more than what I would like. Though the price may be a bit high for my standards, I find that the price is average for a good foundation at the drug store.

Coverage: This has sheer-light coverage, but you can definitely build it to medium (which I don't recommend that you do). It has enough coverage to even out my skin tone and lightly cover some of my acne scars, but it doesn't fully cover the redness around my nose, my dark circles, and some red spots on my cheeks.

Finish: It has a dewy finish, but nothing too extreme. It gives your face a light glow, almost like you were just in the sun. It's easy to blend into the skin and the actual foundation does feel a bit liquidy, but it doesn't run down the back of my hand when I pump it out.

Lasting Power: On a hot day, this will last me for about 5-7 hours, which isn't bad, especially for a drug store foundation. The dewiness will still be there, and if you put on a pressed powder on top, it'll help control some of the dewiness and oil, but you may want to be careful with it.

Overall:
This foundation will be great for Fall/Winter. If you're oily like me and wear this during the warmer months, you run a high chance of looking like you had an oil explosion all over your face, instead of a nice luminous glow. Even when I put powder on top, it's not enough to absorb all the oil and after 3 hours in the sun and walking around, I need to blot my face.

I do like the glow that it gives and I like how easy it is to use. It's great for someone who has normal skin and is looking for a healthy glow without using excess products.

Hope you guys enjoyed the review! If you've tried this foundation, let me know what you guys think about it!! Have a great day and I'll talk to you guys in my next post!! :]

[FOOD] White Chocolate Strawberry Parfait

I know this blog is mainly for beauty talk, but I didn't see the harm in adding in a light snack that will perk up anybody's day. I mean, beauty comes from the inside right? Connected to the library on campus, there's a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. That's where I first had this delicious concoction, and once I saw how they did it, I was able to make my own version at home! The process is simple and you can but everything already made, but if you like your QC (quality control) then you can make each element too, which is what I did.

Layer 1: Granola
You can use any type of granola, it can be store bought or you can make your own. There are a lot of great vanilla granola recipes out there and they aren't that complicated. You can even add in coconut flakes, different types of nuts, dried fruit, etc. to add a little something to your granola. I used homemade granola from my Aunty's recipe.

Layer 2: Strawberries w/ Sauce
This, I make myself because I can control the amount of sugar in it and since it's summer I have easy access to strawberries. This process works with any type of fruits you have, you can use blueberries, peaches, nectarines, etc. This recipe makes about 2 1/2 cups worth, and you can place it in a container and in the refrigerator and it'll last for about 2-3 weeks. Again you can cut the recipe in half to make a smaller batch.

All you need is a small pot and pour equal amount of sugar and water (you can use sugar substitutes if you'd like, and the amount of sugar you put in really depends on how sweet the strawberries are on their own). You're going to place it on the stove over medium-low heat and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. You're going to want at least 7 strawberries, and you're going to quarter them. Once the sugar has dissolved place your strawberries into the pot and stir the mixture. You're going to want to smash some of the strawberries as well to get the juices out. Cook on medium-low for about 10 minutes and then let it cool before using or storing.

Step 3: Yogurt
Again, I buy this from the store, but if you want to make your own go right ahead. I just place about a teaspoon on top.
Okay, I'm not crazy enough to make my own yogurt, but hey if you want to make your own go right ahead. I just use vanilla yogurt, but you can use any type of flavor of yogurt you want.

Layer 4: Yogurt
Okay, I'm not crazy enough to make my own yogurt, but hey if you want to make your own go right ahead. I just use vanilla yogurt, but you can use any type of flavor of yogurt you want.

You're gonna put one more layer and then you're ready to dig in! The one thing I love about this recipe or parfaits in general is the fact that you can really make it your own by adding I'm different ingredients. Let me know how you make your parfaits down below!

[REVIEW] Wet n Wild - Comfort Zone 8 pan palette

YAY!!! Finals are OVER for this semester (I really hope I did well on my finals), so to celebrate, I decided to post a new review! We've all heard about these Wet n Wild palettes and we've been hearing a lot of praise about these eyeshadows and for a very good reason. Let's get to business shall we :D

Breakdown:

Packaging: The packaging is great. It's not bulky and there's no excess plastic or fancy stuff to add more bulk to it. It's sleek and compact and can fit in a makeup bag for traveling. The front plastic part surprisingly feels sturdy and there's not give to it, so there's no really worry of something damaging the eyeshadows.

Feel: These eyeshadows feel extremely buttery and silky, which really surprised me for the price. None of the shadows have that dry feeling to them, like you would need to really press/push a brush in there to pick up the color.

Product: Okay, this is what makes me love this palette. For the price, the eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and they feel rich. The lasting time is impressive as well, but I do always wear an eyeshadow base because I have extremely oily lids. I love the colors and they all work well with each other. The whole idea is that each column will give you a look, but you can mix and match the different colors so get any type of look.

(Left side of the palette)

On the left side of the palette, the first color (furthest left) is called the browbone color, this one is a shimmery light champagne/beige color. The second color, labeled eyelid, is a beautiful rose gold/golden peachy color (one of my absolute faves and great for everyday). The third color, labeled as crease, is a typical coppery/gold, but it's not as dark as some other copper colors can be. The last color in this column, labeled as definer, this color comes off as matte when used, but in the palette it's there is some golden shimmer in it.

(Right side of the palette)

On the right side of the palette, you have a little more color. The browbone color is not as light as the other side, and it has more of a golden undertone to it than the other browbone color. The eyelid color is a great green that is easy to use, especially when you're just getting into color. There's a golden shimmer/sheen to it which makes it really easy to work with. The crease color is almost like black, but it's not as dark as a black and it also has golden shimmer in it. The definer color is an interesting color, because it looks like a gun metal color, but when blended it's like a taupey brown.

Price: You can find the 8 pan palettes at your local drug store for about $4.99 which is an amazing deal, especially for 8 eyeshadows. I mean think about it, we spend like $6 for a regular quad from like L'Oreal or Maybelline. With a price so low, I thought that there could be no way that it would be great quality.

Overall:
I really like this palette. I think it's versatile and is great for someone who does want to experiment with some color, but at the same time wants to stick with neutrals.

The only one thing that I don't like is the fact that the two highlighting shades are shimmery/pearlescent. When I use shimmer on my eyes, I like to use a matte browbone shade to really highlight underneath my brown and blend with my crease. If they had that in this palette I think it'd be complete.

Have you tried this palette?? What do you think about it?? Let me know in the comments down below :D

[REVIEW] TRESemmè - Thermal Creations - Heat Protectant

Happy Tuesday Beauties! Hope you and your mom had a great Mother's Day - are you ready for the week to begin?! I'm not, it's finals week so I've spent most of my weekend studying (fun, I know lol). This week I'll be posting reviews because it's a lot easier for me to do in between the studying and test taking.

Today's review is on a product that I'm 90% sure you've seen or heard about. It's the TRESemmè Heat Protectant. This has to be one of the first hair products that I really saw being hyped about all over the beauty community on YouTube.

Breakdown:

- Packaging: The bottle is plastic and has a nozzle on it to spray the product out. There's nothing spectacular about the packaging, it's basic and simple. I really don't care for the nozzle that dispenses the product. It doesn't allow the product to really spray, it kind of shoots out the product so instead of having a mist with a big area it's almost half the size of a regular spray.

- Smell: I didn't love the smell, but I didn't hate it either. It honestly does remind me of a salon product though lol. I've had other heat protectants that smell amazing and I'd definitely use them over this one.

- Product: I didn't feel like this product did a great job at protecting my hair. I know that it's probably difficult to tell since it's a heat protectant and it's basically invisible. Sometimes if I just left the product in overnight, then I felt like my hair would be a little sticky and the smell would linger in my hair.

- Price: This goes for about $5-$6 depending on where you buy it from. I don't think its that bad of a price, but it's definitely not the cheapest. So, it's not that bad and I would purchase a heat protectant at that price :D (just not this one lol)

Overall:
I didn't really care for the product and I didn't really see the hype over it. I've definitely had a better heat protectant in the past from Suave that was a fraction of the cost. I'm not interested in re-purchasing this one because I feel like it's not worth it because of the nozzle thingy. It was just a meh type of product lol. Nothing too great about it and nothing horrible with it. It just falls in between lol.

Have you tried this heat protectant?? What did you think about it?? Let me know down below!

[REVIEW] Maybelline - Baby Lips: Dr. Rescue - Soothing Sorbet

Happy Friday Beauties! The weekend is finally here!! I hope you all have some exciting plans, but if not that's okay, I'll be stuck studying for finals lol For today's review, it's on a product that has been out for a while now.

I was in need for a really good lip balm, I absolutely love SoftLips and it was my holy grail lip balm, but recently it just hasn't been doing the job. I wanted something with more medication in it and stuff that'll actually help my lips, I did try Carmex, and I'll talk about that in another post. So I was in Walmart and decided to give this a try. I picked a color that looked like it would blend in with my natural lip color but also add a little something.

Breakdown:

  • The packaging - let's get over the first most obvious thing, the packaging is adorable and clean. I like how the cap clicks on to the base and the lip balm isn't above the surrounding container, so I don't have to worry about nicking the actual product. The packaging is also lightweight and easy to use.

  • Smell - Don't let the name of the color deceive you, it definitely does not have a fruity scent to it. It straight up smells like menthol, which I honestly don't have a problem with. It's not too overwhelming, it's light and after you apply it, you can't really notice the scent.
  • Pigmentation - I honestly wasn't expecting this to be pigmented or to even show up on my lips (my lips are pretty pigmented). I was right to not see much difference in the color of my lips; it does make them look a little bit more berry-toned, but nothing extremely noticeable.
  • Product - The actual lip balm surprised me. It's really light feeling on the lips and doesn't feel heavy or goopy. It has a little sheen to it when you first apply it (like you applied lip gloss) and after a little while it dries to blend in with your natural lips. Although there may be menthol in it, it doesn't give an extremely tingly feeling on the lips. It's really light and refreshing.
  • Price - I'm not too crazy about the price. I believe when they first came out the Baby Lips line was pretty reasonably priced ($1-$3) but when i purchased this, it was $3.98. I honestly don't know if I'm willing to purchase more of these, but because of my experience with this one I may be tempted to purchase more.
Overall:

I really do like this product, I think it's great and it helps condition my lips a lot and it's been my go-to product whenever I'm out and about. It's somewhat affordable and you get the same amount of product you would with regular ChapStick.

Have you tried out this product? Or maybe other colors?? What do you think about it??

Until the next post, stay beautiful and happy!!

[TAG] Get To Know Me!

Happy Thursday Beauties! We're almost at the weekend, hang in there :] Do you have any fun weekend plans??

I originally wanted to post a review for you guys, but I felt like I didn't use the product long enough to really talk about it, so instead I'm posting a tag! Feel free to answer these questions too, and if you do it in a YouTube video, leave the link down below so I can check it out!

(I was planning to wear this look to my boyfriend's formal, what do you guys think??)

Let's get started:

1. What do you order at Starbucks?: For me it depends, I have a couple usuals-Green tea Frappacino, hazelnut macchiato <- definitely my go-to,white chocolate mocha, and as far as seasonal flavors go: Caramel brulee latte and PSL (yes, I'm all about that PSL life lol)

2. What's one thing in your closet you cannot live without?: I honestly have to say it's my Jezebell bra. I found it at Ross and it's the only push-up bra that really did the job and holds everything together. A good bra can take you places lol never underestimate the power of one.

3. What's one thing most people probably wouldn't know about you?: Hmm this one is a difficult one. I think it may be the fact that I bowl. I've been bowling for about 8 years now and I love it; I think it's mainly because of how competitive it is (and I'm an extremely competitive person lol).

4. Name one thing you want to do before you die: Have kids <- kind of a lame response right?? lol but seriously, it's one of my biggest goals in life. Kids are a piece of you and I like to think that when I'm gone, that small piece of me will be here and continue to pass on smaller pieces of me :D

5. What's one food you cannot live without?: I'm going to get stereotypical here because I can. I honestly cannot live without RICE!! If I go three days without eating some rice, I begin to crave it lol

6. What quote/phrase do you live your life by?: I have a couple, but the one that I've been using a lot lately is: Be careful of how you treat others, because you don't know the battles that they're fighting. I think this quote has saved me from saying or doing something that I may later regret.

7. What do you like/dislike about the YouTube community?: I like how I can find others who have my same interests, but now-a-days majority of the YouTube-ers that I follow are so busy doing their own thing I run out of videos to watch lol any body else feel that way??

8. What's your number 1 most listened song on iTunes?: Believe it or not it's Big Bang's Love Song. If you're not familiar with the KPop world, why not?? JK JK. I love Big Bang and I used to love walking around campus right when we started going into fall and all the leaves would be falling off the trees (it almost felt like I was in a drama) lol if you haven't head it, definitely go check it out. BTW, T.O.P. is my bias ;D

9. What kind of style would you define yourself as having?: Hmmm good question. I'm not too sure. I would say whatever feels comfortable and simple. I don't like making my style too complicated because in reality it's difficult to do that everyday lol

10. Favorite number?: I wanna say 7, but I have slight OCD which makes me have "rituals" of 3 - For example, when I rinse my mouth when I'm brushing my teeth, I need to do it three times and when I'm in the shower I tend to always rinse my hair in 3s. So i'll get my hair wet 3 times before I shampoo, then rinse 3 times after I shampoo, and then 3 times if i put in conditioner. Weird, I know, but #dontjudgeme

11. Two hobbies?: 1. makeup 2. Bowling <--- simplest question ever lol

12. Two pet peeves?: ummm 1. When someone says they'll show up, but don't and 2. when someone shakes their leg when they're sitting in the same row and I can feel the vibration. It makes me feel queezy sometimes lol But I shake my leg too (well, sometimes)!!

13. Guilty Pleasure?: Watching shows like American Dad, Family Guy, and Bob's Burgers. Everybody says those shows are dumb and stupid and a waste of time, but I secretly LOVE them!! Bob's Burgers is my new obsession!!

Please, feel free to answer these questions!! I know it'd probably be easier if it were in a video format, but I have an interview later on today and I wouldn't have the time to edit and upload it.

Tomorrow, I should be back on track with some type of beauty post, but I hope this helped you to get to know me a little bit better! :D have a wonderful day!!
