Review:
I found this eyeshadow in one of the clearance bins at my local Sephora, and I must admit the only reason why I bothered to pick it up was the color. In the light it looked like a beautiful rose-gold and looked like it would be great to add to darker looks to add a little light or even to add dimension to a neutral look.
With the first swatch I was pretty impressed. It was pigmented without a base but could be blended in for a beautiful metallic sheen, and that was without any type of base underneath. I loved the different dimensions it had and overall it was a great first impression.
The first time I used it was on top of a chocolate/mahogany cream base, for reference I used the darkest color in the Revlon - Not Just Nudes Cream e/s palette (I’m not too sure if they still make these palettes or not). Placing it on top of the base gave it beautiful dimension and added a little umph to what would be a neutral look. I used my fingers to ensure that I really pressed the e/s on to the base and I blended out the edge with a crease brush. I noticed that when I pulled the e/s into my crease it looked like a deeper golden-beige color than it did on my lids. Again the dimensions this e/s gave is beautiful.
I haven’t tried applying it wet yet, but I’m planning to do so soon. I currently like to place the e/s on my lids, on top of a base of course, and then just blending out any harsh lines with my typical crease color and crease brush. It add brightness to my extremely basic look.
Looking at this e/s I feel like it can be used as an all purpose color. It would be a beautiful highlight color to place on cheekbones or to lightly dust over a bronzer and around the chest area. I also think the color itself makes it extremely versatile. Like I mentioned above it can turn a dark look into one that isn’t so harsh and at the same time it’s a color that can be used to bring light to a tired face.
I don’t think I would purchase any other colors from the same line because I don’t feel it would give the same versatility as this color does. I love how I can use it anywhere on my face/body and it looks like it’s meant for that purpose. There are no chunky glittery particles in it, and it’s extremely smooth to touch - not necessarily buttery, but it’s not chalky or powdery either.
The lasting power isn’t great on it’s own. It’s definitely an e/s that needs to have some type of primer or base underneath to help with the lasting power. I haven’t noticed any budging at all and it blends extremely well.
When I do get the chance to try it wet I will definitely update with the results.
